ELKHART, Indiana, April 9 , 2026—Welch Packaging Group, Inc., a family-owned and operated manufacturer of custom corrugated products, today announced its partnership with Jamel Containers of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Founded in 1984 in Collinsville, Alabama, Jamel Containers relocated to Chattanooga in 2011 and has served the greater Tri-State area with an experienced team focused on exceptional customer service, quality production, and quick turnaround.

“We are delighted to welcome Jamel Containers to the Welch family of companies. Jamel will further strengthen our presence and capabilities throughout Tennessee and the Tri-State region,” said Scott Welch, President and CEO of Welch Packaging. “Jamel’s multi-pass digital printing and strong design talent complement our sister plants in East, Middle, and West Tennessee.  Thus, strategically positioning us to serve customers with a broad array of products and services. To enhance confidence in customers’ supply chain reliability, Welch brings over 40 years of experience and the redundancy of our sheet plant network to the market.”

Welch added, “I first met Perry Morris in 2013.  He was operating a successful sheet plant and continued to do so over the years.  His values and approach to the market were consistent with our own.  The Welch strategy includes measured, thoughtful growth to expand our geographic footprint and add capabilities through partnerships with exceptional independent packaging companies. Jamel Containers fits well with that strategy, bringing proven leadership, a skilled workforce, and solid customer relationships to Welch.”

Commenting on the new relationship, owner Perry Morris shared, “As I was considering strategic options to expand capabilities and solutions for customers and enhance opportunities for our employees, I looked for a partner who shared our values and long-term vision.  I was not interested in becoming just another holding in a large packaging portfolio. Having known Scott for many years, I was confident we would be part of a family owned and operated business.”

Welch continued, “Our goal has always been to welcome independent, family-owned businesses into our network in a way that adds resources and energy to their operations, while preserving their legacy in the marketplace and the community. These businesses have deep connections with their people, their customers, and their communities—and those relationships mean a lot to us. We work hard to make sure they stay strong.”

Morris, added, “Welch’s sheet plant network, product capabilities, and market presence will enable Jamel and our dedicated employees to better serve customers. I look forward to introducing a host of new product offerings, including litho-laminated top sheet, specialty glued items, and jumbo boxes.”

Specific terms of this agreement were not disclosed.
