Welch Packaging Practices Green!

Its been 22 years of practicing recycling at Welch that’s established our commitment to being environmentally conscious.

Our combined recycling & green initiatives are listed below :

·       We recycle over 5100 tons of corrugated annually. (thats over 428 tons per month)

·       We recycle corrugated, paper, plastic bottles, plastic strapping, & aluminum cans in all of our plants.

·     We have significantly reduced our paper usage through electronic document solutions.

·       We have implemented Blade Server technology with virtualization, which reduces power & cooling requirements.

·      We have implemented electricity capacitors reducing the dynamic energy required to operate several of our plants.

 Consumers Prefer Recycled Packaging

According to a survey of shoppers:
63% of respondents rated the perceived quality of recycled packaging the same or better than virgin packages
61% were more inclined to purchase products from a company using recycled boxboard packaging
77% felt better about a company using recyclable paperboard packaging
80% felt they were doing something good for the environment when buying products packed in recycled paperboard packaging
85% believed that using recycled paperboard packaging will make a better future for your children

Welch Packaging Supplier CSC Obtains Multiple Green Certifications-

The certification by the Forest Stewardship Council attests that CSC’s paper can be sourced to suppliers which themselves practice environmentally sound forestry practices. It is the second such certification CSC has obtained. In February '08, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, a competing organization, granted similar recognition to CSC plants.
